Explanation of Rounding

A common question is: when I take the total pounds and convert it to ST or MT the total is different on the report. Why?

The simple answer is this: the MT and ST values are rounded and the rounded values are added up to show Total MT or ST. The total is NOT re-calculated total based upon the total pounds. This is a mathematical issue that cannot be overcome. So the bottom line is that there is no way for both totals to match 100% of the time. The preference, however, is for the COLUMN TOTAL to always be accurate. This has been the repeated requirement of various shipping lines and banks.
